Vet Notes

  • Cauthen's Power (Race 8) – when questioned, rider B Avdulla stated that being cluttered up in a race absent of a strong tempo did not suit his mount. Trainer Mr C Waller stated he was disappointed with the effort of the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be coughing subsequent to the race. The Stewards directed that the stable present the results of an endoscopic examination prior to Cauthen's Power racing again

Unlucky Runners

  • Clearly Innocent (Race 4) – when questioned concerning her riding in the straight, App. S Clenton stated that the gelding is still very green and early in the straight she found herself towards the inside and behind a line of horses. She added that she did not get into clear ground until near the 100m and Clearly Innocent is a horse that takes some time to pick up, but in the circumstances the gelding finished the race off well.

Penalties & Fines

  • J McDonald, rider of Duca Valentinois (Race 8) -  pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that when he shifted out to improve around Thermogenic on straightening he was insufficiently clear, heavily bumping Makeadane, resulting in Makeadane being hampered and Banksters Bonus being hampered and taken wider in consequence. J McDonald's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Monday, 14 December 2015 and to expire on Sunday, 27 December 2015, on which day he may ride. In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account that the consequences were at the lower end of the scale, however, J McDonald had incurred four careless riding suspensions in the last 12 months.
