Memsie Stakes Race Guide this weekend
Published: 25 Aug 2014
The Race Guide launched successfully during The Championships in Sydney and have since concentrated efforts on coverage of the Saturday Sydney metropolitan meetings. As the focus moves more towards Melbourne, so will ours, covering more of the key features south of the border.
This means more insight and information into the gallopers that make up each big Spring contest. We provide profiles that outline the strengths and weaknesses of each horse and how well they are suited in each race. Example insights include:
- Silent Achiever is a leaner type that lacks the power of the other sprinters (Weakness - "Lacks Power", Strength - "Maintains Run")
- Dissident is a tough horse, that can lack the pure speed on a good surface (Weaknesses -"Lacks Top Speed", Strength - "Tough")
- Sweet Idea is resilient, but not brilliant (Strength - "Genuine")
- Boban Corners well (good for Caulfield) and has great Finishing Strength, but his Acceleration rating is only on par with others
So when your having a punt on Boban, perhaps beware that he will need an honest tempo to win. And things look tough for Sweet Idea and Dissident given their recent wins have used their strengths well. It will be a whole different challenge on a dry Caulfield, where either pure speed or a great turn-of-foot are at a premium.
The early nominations suggest it will be a closely matched race in which the smallest advantage can make the difference.
The Race Guide for the Memsie Stakes will be published Thursday morning.
