Sensation at Ladbrokes Park Lakeside

Published: 06 Jan 2016

It was a hard luck story for favourite backers in Race 6 today at Ladbrokes Park as jockey Jye McNeil weighed in 0.6 kg light on TIGIDIG TIGIDIG who was first past the post, only to be disqualified.

McNeil, trainer Vincent Malady and a jubilant group of owners were left devastated after the horse seemed to finally have scored win number three following a run of second-placed efforts.

The win of the day was the heavily-backed POPOVICH on debut, who got the job done after racing wide throughout. A very talented galloper that could now head to Hong Kong for his racing future.

On what was primarily a winning day for punters, other strong performances included MISS SOFTHANDS and KIFAAH, a promising three-year-old colt by Redoute's Choice. Odds-on favourite CAMDUS was strong to the line late in the day for Darren Weir. Jockey Craig Williams brought up a riding double on the O'Shea trained MONOGRAM.

The Race Previews for racing at Caulfield this Saturday will be on-line Friday at 9am.
