  • Igniting (Race 1) - A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slower than normal recovery.
  • Silent Roar (Race 2) - A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
  • Beerz With Clint (Race 4) - Post-race endoscopy detected a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected the horses racing performance. A veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.
  • Mr Reckless (IRE) (Race 7) - Post-race endoscopy detected a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected the horses racing performance. A veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.
  • Al Passem (Race 8) - Rider Dwayne Dunn reported the gelding slipped at the start and thereafter was not suited to the soft track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame right hind. A veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.
  • Al Galayel (IRE) (Race 8) - A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame left fore. A veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.

Penalties & Fines

  • Mark Zahra, rider of Predecessor  was fined $300 for breaching the provisions of AR131b in that he failed to ride his mount out to the end of the race.
  • John Allen (El Vincitore, 2nd placegetter) pleaded guilty to a charge of breaching the provisions of AR211(1) in that he weighed- in in excess of half a kilogram of his declared weight.J Allen had his licence to ride in races suspended for a total of ten meetings to commence midnight 8 July, 2019 and to expire midnight Thursday 18 July, 2019. (2 metro, 8 provincial). In assessing penalty the Stewards took into account his guilty plea and record. Stewards ordered that the suspension be served cumulatively with two current suspensions incurred.
  • App Chelsea Hall (Snipfit) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provision of AR131(a). The careless riding being that approaching the 900 metres she allowed her mount to shift in placing North Afrika in restricted room for some distance which then had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Snipfit near the 900 metres. C Hall had her permit to ride in races suspended for a total of eight meetings to commence midnight 19 June, 2019 and to expire midnight 27 June, 2019. (1 metro, 7 provincial). In assessing penalty the Stewards were of the view that the incident qualified for the low-range category of carelessness and took into account her guilty plea and record.

Summary of Races

Race 1 LADBROKES PARK HANDICAP - 1200 metres:

  • Zoffala - Began awkwardly.
  • Mr Causeway Began awkwardly.
  • Brunot Began awkwardly and shortly after tightened for room between Hi Stranger and Igniting, both of which shifted ground. Hung in upon straightening for several strides.
  • Vegas Knight Got its head up when being restrained near the 800 metres. Rider Teo Nugent dropped his whip approaching the 200 metres. Passing the 200 metres steadied when tightened for room between Hi Stranger and Evening Glory, both of which shifted ground.
  • Evening Glory Raced three wide without cover. Weakened from the 200 metres. Rider Clayton Douglas could offer no explanation other than he travelled wide. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
  • Igniting Raced wide without cover. Rider John Allen reported the colt did not feel comfortable in todays track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slower than normal recovery
  • Triton Rising Raced wide rounding the home turn.

Race 2 LADBROKES CASH IN HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

  • Araaja (IRE) Change of tactics To be ridden back with cover from the wide barrier. Settled at the rear of the field with cover. Rider Craig Newitt reported his mount was not suited by todays track conditions.
  • Josephine Sea Fractious in the barrier. Underwent a veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. Bounded as the start was effected and was slow to begin. Over raced in the middle stages. Rider Chris Symons reported his mount may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality. Stewards will follow up with the stable.
  • Special Diva Raced three wide without cover.
  • Silent Roar Rider Dwayne Dunn reported the mare did not handle todays track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

Race 3 LADBROKES HANDICAP - 1200 metres:

  • Peko Slow to begin. Rider Brett Prebble reported his mount did not handle todays track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
  • Malibu Style Eased approaching the 1000 metres to avoid the heels of Jungle Edge (app Michael Poy), which shifted in. M Poy was reprimanded.
  • Redefine (NZ) Raced three wide without cover.

Race 4 LADBROKES CASH OUT HANDICAP - 1200 metres:

  • The Great Bratski Hampered at the start when tightened for room between Just Remember This and More Than Exceed (NZ), which shifted out. Raced four wide without cover.
  • Smart Elissim Slow to begin. Held up for clear running passing the 200 metres for several strides.
  • Voila - Steadied shortly after the start to avoid the heels of Beerz With Clint, which shifted in.
  • Just Remember This Raced three wide without cover. Got its head up when steadied near the 400 metres after having laid in towards the heels of Beerz With Clint, which had also shifted out slightly. App Michael Poy reported the filly made a respiratory noise. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.
  • Ben Hercules Weakened from the 250 metres. App Lewis German reported his mount did not handle todays track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
  • Beerz With Clint Weakened from the 250 metres. Rider Damien Oliver reported his mount raced flat today. Post-race endoscopy detected a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected the horses racing performance. A veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.

Race 5 LADBROKES INFO HUB HANDICAP - 2100 metres:

  • Beau Balmain (GER) Change of tactics To be ridden more forward. Settled in a handy position.
  • Mawaany Machine Change of tactics Attempt to be more forward. Travelled wide in the early stages before being allowed to stride forward and lead near the 1600 metres.
  • Pacodali (IRE) Began awkwardly.
  • Lucques Eased passing the 400 metres to avoid the heels of Lamborghini (NZ), which shifted out.
  • Darabad (FR) App Harry Grace reported that after beginning well and with blinkers on, raced keenly in a more forward position.
  • Lamborghini (NZ) Rider Jye McNeil reported the gelding may not have handled todays track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
  • Willi Willi Rider Brett Prebble reported the gelding did not handle the track down the hill. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
  • Thunder Cloud Rider Craig Williams reported the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation.

Race 6 LADBROKES $101 ODDS HANDICAP - 2100 metres:

  • Im Dun Dreamin Change of tactics To be ridden forward. Led. Rider Jarrod Fry reported his mount failed to run out todays distance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality. The gelding lost the left front plate.
  • Predecessor Raced three wide without cover. Rider Mark Zahra was fined $300 for breaching the provisions of AR131b in that he failed to ride his mount out to the end of the race.
  • American In Paris Held up for clear running behind Crockett from the 500 metres until passing the 400 metres.
  • Dark Confidant A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality. Stewards will follow up with the stable.
  • Peace Brother held-up for clear running from the 400m until passing the 300m.
  • Mangione Rider Craig Newitt reported the colt did not handle todays track conditions.

  • Hypnos (NZ) App Michael Poy reported the gelding did not travel well early. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality. Stewards will follow up with the stable.
  • Mr Reckless (IRE) Steadied near the 1300 metres when tightened for room by North Afrika (app Lachlan King), which was shifting in. L King was reprimanded and notified to exercise more care. Rider Michael Dee reported his mount did not handle todays track conditions. Post-race endoscopy detected a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected the horses racing performance. A veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.
  • North Afrika Steadied near the 900 metres to avoid heels. App Lachlan King reported the gelding did not handle todays track conditions.
  • Travimyfriend - Unbalanced near the 900 metres after being contacted by North Afrika which had shifted out when avoiding the heels of Snipfit.
  • I Boogi Steadied near the 900 metres to avoid heels.

Race 8 LADBROKES BACK YOURSELF HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

  • Royal Ace Began awkwardly and shortly after shifted in abruptly from its outside barrier to race near the running rail. Rider Brett Prebble reported he was instructed to ride his mount quietly in the early stages and to attempt to gain cover towards the inside. He added the colt did not handle todays track conditions and was performing poorly passing the 600 metres and for this reason he eased the colt down. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality. Stewards will follow up with the stable.
  • Waging War Tightened for room at the start by The Statesman (GB) which shifted out.
  • Al Passem Rider Dwayne Dunn reported the gelding slipped at the start and thereafter was not suited to the soft track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame right hind. A veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.
  • Al Galayel (IRE) Rider Mark Zahra reported his mount was not suited by todays track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame left fore. A veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.
  • Spanner Head App Michael Poy could offer no explanation for the performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Race 9 LADBROKES MULTIVERSE HANDICAP - 1400 metres:

  • Kurocaine Change of tactics To be ridden further back. Settled worse than mid-field.
  • Buffalo River (USA) Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
  • Sizzleme Rider Dwayne Dunn reported the filly will be better suited over more ground and on firmer going. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
