Horse of the Week: Our Boy Malachi
Published: 01 Feb 2016
Racking up the wins - Our Boy Malachi wins last preparation at Rosehill Gardens
A career that started with a lowly 850 metre Maiden at Gympie in Queensland reached new heights on Saturday when OUR BOY MALACHI streaked clear in the Group Two Expressway Stakes.
Despite being the highest rated sprinter following the scratching of GENERALIFE, it didn't look like it would be so easy as his odds drifted dramatically leading up to the race. So much so that Gerald Ryan's mare SOLICIT took over as favourite in the final minutes before jump time.
Defying his age and the market drift, the "Rockhampton Rocket" didn't take long to show he was back to his best. He charged to the front right from the outset as a fierce storm loomed above the track. A performance worthy of this week's Horse of the Week.
Faster than the wind - Our Boy Malachi sprints clear just a storm is about to hit Rosehill Gardens
