Best in the Yard: River Wild

Winning parade - River Wild looked in great shape while other gallopers sweated-up in the heat
Only seven of the nine races were run on Saturday at Rosehill Gardens due to the bad weather, however there were still plenty of impressive types in the yard. Two-year-old filly HONEST PREVAILS (Race 4) strutted around the parade in style and OUR BOY MALACHI (Race 7) was ready to rock first-up.
Waterhouse's WHITE DOVE (Race 6) had held her condition very nicely and her stable-mate RIVER WILD stood out too. He went on to win Race 5 over 1,400 metres in a very close finish.
A strapping son of FASTNET ROCK, he looked strong and very forward before heading onto the track. His potent mix of power and stamina proved too much over the last 50 metres for a field of handy three-year-olds, including the well-backed runner-up NICCOCO from Melbourne.
He now heads towards the Group One Randwick Guineas and takes the 'Best in the Yard' honours this week.
