Best in the Yard - Chelmsford Stakes day

Looking good - Hooked was "Best in the Yard"

The Best in the Yard from Chelmsford Stakes day was the John Thompson trained 'Hooked'. He looked very fit and well before Race 6 - The Tramway Stakes, turned out in great style by the stable that is soon to lose all their Patinack Farm runners in the upcoming sale.

He is a quality galloper best known for finishing a close 3rd to Criterion in the ATC Derby (2400m). He also finished 4th in Complacent's Group 1 Spring Champion stakes (2000m) in 2013.

Breeding

Sired by Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes winner Casino Prince, from the moderately performed mare Absolute Lure (20 starts for $31k prizemoney), he is bred to be a sprinter/miler, with speed and athleticism apparent in his conformation. After good early performances over 2000m+, he is now being trained for races of around a mile.

Performance

7th beaten 3.7 lengths - He didn't have much luck early, sliding up wide with no cover near the pace. Despite the tough run, it seemed he was cruising at the 400m, but he just couldn't quite pick up enough on the heavy ground down the straight.

Couldn't quite get there - after a tough run on the heavy track, he battled home honestly in midfield
