Horse of the Week: Single Gaze

Published: 28 Mar 2016

Little warrior - Single Gaze showed her heart winning the Group One Vinery Stud Stakes on Saturday

Just about every racing analyst had her down as "doesn't run 2,000 metres" ahead of the Group One Vinery Stud Stakes at Rosehill Gardens, a race that included classy fillies from Sydney, Melbourne and New Zealand.

But the pint-sized filly SINGLE GAZE defied her diminutive frame and sprinting blood-lines to beat home Kiwi VALLEY GIRL in an exciting finish. Kathy O'Hara found the perfect on-pace position and the little warrior did the best, sprinting to the lead and fighting right to the finish.

There is even talk of her going to the Oaks now over Randwick's mile and a half!

Either way, her Group One winning performance is worthy of this week's Horse of the Week.
