Top 5 Championship Insights

Sprinting champion - Tommy Berry and Chautauqua will try to defend their crown in the TJ Smith Stakes

The Championships have arrived in Sydney, a final showdown of the best horses in the land for the 2015/16 season. High class fields are highlighted by the appearances of WINX, KERMADEC, CHAUTAUQUA, EXOSPHERE, TARZINO and Golden Slipper runner-up YANKEE ROSE across the big Group One features.

Ahead of the full card of Race Guides going on-line Friday morning, the Analyst Team have listed their Top 5 Early Insights below.

No. 1 Beware of the Bias

A drying track and rail in the TRUE at Randwick is a recipe for an OFF RAILS bias. Horses like CLEARLY INNOCENT (Race 4), OMEI SWORD (Race 6) BOSS LANE (Race 8), DELECTATION (Race 8) and FIRST SEAL (Race 9) could find themselves in the 'bog lane' nearer the inside.

Watch the first couple of races closely and follow @TheRaceGuide on Twitter for the updates.

No. 2 Final 50 Fight

The last 50 metres of a race is the time when the serious racehorses are sorted out from the pretenders.

Watching the three runs in YANKEE ROSE's career so far, you have to be impressed with the way she has hit the line. One of those fillies that knuckles down and gives it her all.

If she's in touch with a furlong to go in the Sires' Produce (Race 6) and everything is in order after the Golden Slipper, they won't beat her.

Bet on YANKEE ROSE now at $3.6

No. 3 Scopey Stayers

Both TARZINO and TALLY have delivered dominant 2,000 metre wins ahead of the Derby (Race 7), putting 2 length margins on those chasing behind. Those types of wins are so impressive because you don't know how much faster they would have gone if challenged!

They could be two of the best stayers in Australia and get their chance to show that on Saturday.

Bet on TARZINO at $1.9 and TALLY at $6.5

No. 4 Can He Be Trusted?

This year's TJ Smith (Race 8) is a mouthwatering showdown between the champion CHAUTAUQUA and young up-and-comer EXOSPHERE, who had no luck behind him in the Lightning Stakes first-up.

They both rate similarly on form, but can you trust EXOSPHERE to find his best from barrier 4 with gallopers all around him?

CHAUTAUQUA has to be the more reliable bet from barrier 11, storming down the outside!

Bet now on CHAUTAUQUA at $3.4

No. 5 Beating the Handicapper

You can keep The Doncaster (Race 9) simple and look for the horses that have improved since the Handicapper set the weights. WINX is carrying 1.5kg less than she should be on current ratings, while VOLKSTOK'N'BARRELL is also sneaking in 1.5kg 'light'.

That's no surprise as they've both put in back-to-back Group One wins!

Bet on WINX at $1.9 and VOLKSTOK'N'BARRELL at $23
