Your Guide to The Championships Day Two
Published: 07 Apr 2016
Ready to win - Waterhouse's El Divino before he dead-heated in the opening race last weekend
The Bookies are reeling after Day One of The Championsips and we'd like to think The Race Guide helped! Aiming up at YANKEE ROSE in the conditions and betting on CHAUTAUQUA, a much more reliable prospect than EXOSPHERE, were two big wins that left the bagmen on the back foot.
So on to Day Two we go now, packed with four big Group Ones, 149 horses and a stack of winning chances.
The Analyst Team have listed their Top 6 Tips to keep you on top.
all odds provided by our partner CrownBet
Tip 1 - "Conditions Matter"
The ground was 'sticky' and soft according to the jockeys last week, a surface that both champions WINX and CHAUTAUQUA managed to plough through, but short-priced Derby favourite TARZINO didn't enjoy it as much.
It should be a GOOD 4 to SOFT 5 track for racing this weekend if the showers hold off. Check out which horses are suited the most.
Tip 2 - "Beware of the Bias"
The rail is out 6 metres this weekend and usually that means the bias will be NEAR RAILS.
Why? Well that part of the track is the peak of the camber, or put simply, higher and drier ground!
It's hard to tell if that's definitely going to happen until race day though so tune into @TheRaceGuide on Twitter for updates.
Tip 3 - "Aim for Value"
There are big fields on Saturday and lots of chances. That means if you're the type to back one horse per race you'll be walking away with hard luck stories or a massive collect!
It could be a day for finding a few in each race, or even more if there's a favourite you want to back against.
All that matters is the right price for the right horse.
Short, but value - Winx was value, despite the short odds, winning by a big margin
Tip 4 - "Find the Fittest"
No we don't mean lurking around the bar.. fit horses will be more important than ever on Saturday.
Trainers with slight question marks over their horses almost always scratch them, unless there is $4 million on offer! Check out horses like CRITERION (has been looking a bit lean), HAPPY CLAPPER (trying to back up from Doncaster), RISQUE (poor run last start) and GALLANTE (coming off a freshen) in the mounting yard.
Or if you're too busy having fun, listen to Ron Dufficy on Sky and tune into @TheRaceGuide on Twitter.
Tip 5 - "Get the Edge"
Punters that win have the edge on others across three areas; knowing the form, knowing the conditions and knowing how well the horse is. We've got to rely on the stewards and the mounting yard for keeping an eye on the ponies, but knowing the form and conditions is what The Race Guide is all about.

Tip 6 - ".. An Actual Tip!"
OK, we'd better give you an actual tip for the day after all that chat above. The Analyst Team's best is shown below.
