The Big Early Value

Updated nominations have been received for the two big Group Ones this weekend at Royal Randwick. In the Champagne Stakes PRIZED ICON has been added to the field, while in the All Aged there has been no change to the list of 13 nominations.

On ratings alone PRIZED ICON should pose no threat to the star filly YANKEE ROSE, who could improve even further again up to the 1,600 metres of the Champagne Stakes. She has hit the line with force at every start in her career so far. A real racehorse!

As for the evenly-matched All Aged field, the big question is the fitness of KERMADEC, who was within 1.5 lengths of Winx at Weight For Age in the George Ryder before failing in the Doncaster Handicap. He was ridden aggressively that day on a hot tempo and could be worth forgiving if there are continued positive signs from the stable.

He's our Big Early Value on Tuesday, worth a speck at the very juicy odds of $7.
