Country star - Artlee needs to prove himself over 1,200 metres this weekend
The markets are open for Hawkesbury, Doomben and Caulfield this weekend, with CrownBet working on the odds for Morphettville tomorrow.
It's not an easy time of year for the Bookies to set their prices, form-lines really start to mix as gallopers cross borders to search for the right race. FELL SWOOP heads north from Canberra and dominates the betting for the feature Victory Stakes in Brisbane, while the provincial trainers come head-to-head with the city stables at Hawkesbury in Sydney's north-west.
Good field sizes continue in Melbourne and Chris Waller builds his numbers down south, including the favourite SHE'S MISS DEVINE in Race 4.
The Analyst Team's opening trades across all three states are shown below.
Doomben Race 2
Sell ANGEL'S BEACH at $3.7
"She's a mare that often finds her best fresh and this will be her third start this campaign. You can expect a race day drift from the early quote, especially with 59kg on her back."
Caulfield Race 4
BUY PINK PERFECTION at $8
"A talented mare that can run well fresh, she won first-up over the same track and disance last campaign. A leading contender and good early value."
Hawkesbury Race 6
BUY CRADLE ME at $9
"This mare is absolutely flying, making good ground behind TWO BLUE on a boggy track last start. As long as too much rain doesn't come she'll be storming home late."
Doomben Race 6
SELL ARTLEE at $6
"May not have had the best luck first-up, but he is still yet to be proven in this grade over 1,200 metres. Would have to reach new heights to win this."
Hawkesbury Race 9
BUY MACKINTOSH at $7.5
"He was stuck wide in the Group One Randwick Guineas and had no luck before switching to the Chris Waller stable. Capable of a big jump in the ratings at good odds, there could be money on race day."
Hawkesbury Race 9
BUY SPINNING DAWN to place at $9
"This horse has had no luck in recent starts, he's definitely due for a turn-around. Fits the profile of a light-weight roughie that could surprise a few."
