Horse of the Week: Hetty Heights
Published: 27 Apr 2016
As genuine as they come - Hetty Heights always produces a strong chase right to the line
Positive words from trainer Kim Waugh before the race gave punters confidence mare HETTY HEIGHTS was ready to run a big race, but things didn't always look good during the event.
Leader NITE ROCKER had been well-backed just before the jump and he gave an almighty kick, holding a clear margin only 100 metres from home. A big final surge from HETTY HEIGHTS was just too much for him to handle though.
She's a galloper that shows grit and determination every time she goes around, a worthy Horse of the Week.

Quick Facts
- Not the best looking type, she was passed in at the 2013 Vobis Gold Yearling Sale and retained to race by her breeder Robert Roulston
- Unlucky in her previous start in the Provincial Championships, she flashed late off a slow speed
- She's a typical genuine type that can lack the top speed needed on a dry track, but often produces a big final surge
- The 'Heights' name is linked to Group One winner Mapperley Heights a few generations ago
