Horse of the Week: Nancy
Published: 04 May 2016
All heart - Nancy makes up for a lack of size with plenty of fight
After racing keenly at Royal Randwick when a beaten favourite, Sydney's pint-sized warrior NANCY didn't leave anything to chance at Hawkesbury in the Group 3 Godolphin Crown. She jumped nicely from an inside barrier and tracked up nearer the inside before surging straight past Two Blue in the straight.
She's one of the more genuine race horses you will see and worthy of this week's Horse of the Week.

Quick Facts
- She's been referred to as a 'runt' in the mounting yard by some racing analysts, but is a bit stronger this campaign
- Her sire Big Brown was a shuttle stallion for Vinery for four seasons only, finishing up in 2014
- A very genuine mare, her 'worst' run was a 5th behind God's In Him when stuck wide at Rosehill
- McEvoy has ridden her twice now and clearly gets on well with the mare, expect him to get the ride more often than not
- The horse she beat on debut, Mchawi, is a $200,000 gelding that remains a Maiden after ten starts, while little Nancy cost just $65,000!
