A Guineas Target That's Twice as Big

Published: 09 Oct 2014

Ready to go - Caulfield will host it's biggest week of racing

The Spring season brings a lot of punters back to the race-course and we are set for a massive day this Saturday with the Caulfield Guineas in Melbourne and First Seal lighting up the track in Sydney.

Along with the punters, the Bookies join in the party offering up deals you wouldn't get any other time of year.

Luxbet are paying out a wining dividend for second in the Caulfield Guineas, which means the target is twice as big for every punter to hit. The Race Guide's Analyst, Horse Expert and Bookie Battler have looked at the key factors in the race and how you can get a collect.

Hitting the Target

The Key Factors

Analyst - "Looking for a consistent type that is drawn well, preferably nearer the inside. Hoping to get some luck in running and sneak up late for first or second."

Horse Expert - "A very genuine galloper would be well suited to this kind of bet. A tough horse that fights hard to the line would be ideal."

Bookie Battler - "I'm just going for an out-and-out champ and I'll still take the cash if he gets nutted on the line."

The Options

Analyst - "After a good look, the options narrowed down to Kumaon and Zebulon, who can both get nice trails in midfield and sneak into the top two. Might play Kumaon at the big odds."

Horse Expert - "The more genuine horses in the race are Our Vespa, Almalad, Rich Enuff, Looks Like the Cat and Kumaon. The toughness of Almalad makes him a good choice for a top two bet."

Bookie Battler - "Rich Enuff is a beast that is sure to go well, but Gai's warrior Almalad won't be far off. Going to throw a dart at Almalad to hit the big target at a nice price."

The Verdict

Two votes from three for the tough Waterhouse galloper Almalad. A big chance to get into the top two.
