Horse of the Week: Maurus
Published: 22 Jun 2016
Big Queensland winner - Maurus has reached new heights since heading north
They don't come any more professional than David Vandyke's stayer MAURUS. Every start in Queensland has been faultless, but you could have been forgiven for worrying ahead of the Ipswich Cup last weekend. The reports were that he had travelled poorly to the track and as a result he was a 'muck lather' in the mounting yard.
What followed was a masterclass in galloping around a tight-turning track. Winning the days feature by a widening margin made him an easy choice for Horse of the Week.
