The classic Autumn race for the 3YOs, the 2400m Derby around the Randwick circuit will be a real test as always. A big field with plenty that can go forward should ensure a FAIR gallop as they complete a full lap of the course. ACE HIGH won the Victoria Derby easily last spring and he has produced very strong lead-up form into this, just 2.3L from Doncaster favourite Kementari two starts ago in the Randwick Guineas before a brave effort for 6th in the Rosehill Guineas on unsuitable SOFT ground when stuck wide the whole way. He's a stayer with Melbourne Cup promise and the one to beat here. Up-and-comer FURORE was unlucky in the Rosehill Guineas and poses a big threat, along with VIN DE DANCE, who proved 2400m was to his liking in the NZ Derby. The race really opens up outside of those; MONGOLIANCONQUEROR (2nd NZ Derby, better back to dry), TANGLED, LEVENDI, BELFAST, ASTORIA, WEATHER WITH YOU, SALSAMOR, THE LORD MAYOR and even ENDOWMENT all around the mark.
