A typical tough on-pace Waterhouse Bott galloper. He relished a wet track to win the G1 2400m Derby.
When questioned T. Clark stated that in his view Major Beel does not appreciate the firmer racing surfaces and is better suited on rain-affected going.
Has been better ridden quieter in recent starts. He was peaking on his run when asked to quicken from near pace.
Imported runner. Could get near pace and quicken in his races. One 2400m win came when sprinting best off a slow tempo and he weakened late in other 2400m runs.
Neat, solid, quite robust staying type (photos).
Lacks acceleration, but he does build strongly late into his races. Tempo and a long straight suit.
