A handy field assembles here for The Sydney Cup over what is sure to be a gruelling 3200m on a wet track. With only a 4kg spread in the weights the classier runners appear favoured with Sertorius and The Offer in well based on their recent good form. Sertorius wasn't far off the Group 1 horses, including Silent Achiever, two starts ago and The Offer dominated a few of his rivals here last weekend. The imported mare Voleuse de Coeurs is clearly the class runner based on her best performances and recent form is sound, the big question is whether she can win carrying more weight than the boys. Tupac Amaru will relish the conditions and distance, but he isn't the most impressive type and doesn't get much weight relief for a three-year old and the New Zealander Who Shot Thebarman looks tough so is in the mix. Other chances include Epingle (keeps on well), Tremec (tough as old boots) and Brigantin (Waller could have him primed). Great to see the 3200m Cup as part of The Championships, a real test. A few of these will sleep well after this.
