Mares races are well known for close finishes and this BM84 looks like it could fit that profile, especially given that there doesn't appear to be a dominant form line coming into the event. Two key lead ups include Kristy Lee's 1200m win, in which Express Power and Bouzy Rouge both finished off well, and Sense And Reason's victory three weeks ago, from which a few competitors line up. Express Power looks like a classy short-course performer, and despite the fact she was tested over further last preparation, the 1400m second-up should suit. And Bouzy Rouge is one of a few tough provincial horses that line up, which all have hopes with low weights. Sense And Reason was impressive last start, but there wasn't much between her and Charzed at the finish and a possible slow pace looks like it could be an issue. The only leader Arrowette will get across as she pleases, and with formlines around Charzed and Dream Empress, could hang on if she can see out the 1400m. First Class Ticket brings a different formline after racing solidly against the boys last start and a similar effort should line up well in this event. The class towards the top of the field can't be dismissed either, although Queen's Elect missed what might have been a critical trial in the lead up. A great race to pick through with lots of form that overlaps. With a close margin probable, which mare will be most suited on the day?
