Finishing off the day over 1300m, early speed from MAPMAKER, CATESBY, THE PHAROAH and perhaps MONSIER SISU should ensure a FAIR tempo. Camping just behind them in midfield is the very impressive first-up winner NEWSFAN, who dominated her rivals over 1200m and ran some incredible sectionals to finish off. She could just be too good for BM 78 grade and seems to relish the flat fast Rosehill track. A few around the same ratings that could show up if she fails, including CATESBY (won last three in Sydney, gets on-pace), SCHUBERT and MAPMAKER.. The risky runner in the race is SOUTHERN LAD, who does have big upside and should enjoy the 1300m, but he's had both a strong tempo and lucky inside run in his favour the last two times to the track. MONSIEUR SISU is a tough lean type that may struggle to re-produce a high 1300m figure unless the rain comes. THE PHAROAH not hopeless if he can find old form on just 53kg and GENERALISSIMO is around the mark if ridden well from the barrier. [updated 9:04am]
