The Premier's Cup brings together a big field made up mostly of gallopers on their way to Spring targets. The early favourite is the Gai Waterhouse trained Gatewood, who will get a nice on-pace run again after his first-up third behind Entirely Platinum. He isn't the most powerful horse in the field though and the risk may be that he lacks the sprint needed to win down the straight. Stable-mate Bonfire is a more impressive type that will also be on-pace from the good draw and might be a better gamble at the odds. Chris Waller has five entries, the most likely contender being He's Your Man after a strong win last start. Hoylonny had everything in his favour last start, as did Sabor a Triunfo two starts ago, and both gallopers prefer a drier surface. The better chances at odds are Opinion (good in wet), Wish Come True (strong form last prep), Who Shot Thebarman (has talent), Celtic Prince (extra distance helps) and Canny Ballad (very tough). Is it Waterhouse vs Waller, or will a roughie steal the prize?
