A Group 2 Weight For Age race over a mile is the highlight of the day, and while the quality might not be high, there is a lot of interest in the betting. We have to start by mentioning The Cleaner, who won in a fashion you don't often see last start. He pushed his hardest from the start to the finish and still managed to find the reserves to fight back when challenged - despite 60+kg on his back! A real warrior. Poetic references aside, he is a key player in the race given he looks to set an honest speed. The P.B. Lawrence Stakes winner Star Rolling is set up to be the beneficiary just behind the speed, but there are some question marks on his racing style at Moonee Valley (long-striding type around the turn?). Looking for horses with the power to stay on, Foreteller is near the top of list given he produced such a mighty effort in last year's Cox Plate. Other runners that can fight on late are Pakal (great stamina), Foundry (sustains run to line) and The Offer (trialled well). Which one can chase hard enough to catch the bold Tasmanian, or is The Cleaner's fairy-tale not yet complete?
