A very open Caulfield Cup over the mile and a half, with so many questions as always in an intriguing race. VERRY ELLEEGANT (gets favoured Soft track conditions) won the best local lead-up race in the Turnbull holding off the challenge of TOFFEE TONGUE, FINCHE and DALASAN, with MASTER OF WINE and WARNING closing well in behind. Of the internationals, due to the year that has been around the world, many would have targeted this race more than previous years, and none moreso than Aiden O’Brien who saddles up one of the favourites in Epsom Derby winner ANTHONY VAN DYCK. He can put himself near the speed and has the ability to quicken at the end of these races, as he has done repeated times on an international stage. The lightly raced BUCKHURST is another that will get a great run behind the speed, with just a slight query at the trip [FORM GUIDE only].
