A great field lines up here for Race 3 with a lot of different angles to look at. The main question is whether Katie's Cove can race professionally enough to do the job in an event that looks more than winnable for her. The wide expanses of Randwick will suit and she looks to be a strong and well-balanced type with a lot of promise. The pace should be set by Oxford Poet and Sabino Speed and is expected to be at least even, or even good, with Kim Waugh's tactics on her galloper to let him roll freely. Sabino Speed had the better of him in a couple of recent runs and these two will have their own duel at the front of the race and could hang on if track conditions allow. Waller brings the improving Black Revolver to the race, who may not be ideally suited by a slightly wet Randwick track, and Abbasso, who looks to have some scope and could surprise. The Waterhouse trio of Equator (chance if fit), Rockford (on the improve) and Longma (strong late last time) can't be dismissed if Katie's Cove doesn't perform, and even Miss Tenpins and Lofty Ambition have claims. Bjorn Baker's galloper hasn't had the best of luck in recent outings. If you're on the Kiwi, sit back and cross your fingers. If not, a search for a value runner might pay off.
