Yard to the Post @ Rosehill Gardens
Race Day: Rosehill Gardens on Saturday, 06 May 2017
A perfect racing surface was presented at Rosehill Gardens today, if only every meeting was run on a track like this! There wasn't a hint of bias in the feature Lord Mayor' Cup as on-pacer TOP OF MY LIST held off swooper ALLERGIC to win back-to-back races.
Anthony and Edward Cummings' winner had improved many lengths to win the Group 3 JRA Plate over the Autumn Carnival and proved it was no fluke today. She is now one of many gallopers that could now head to Queensland, including Bjorn Baker's sprinter BONNY O'REILLY, who's set to head north after winning Race 9. Waller's three-year-old BLACK ON GOLD a possible Queensland Derby contender now after winning Race 3 over 2,000 metres.
The day had started with the unveiling of yet another impressive two-year-old from the Godolphin stable in VIRIDINE. The son of Poet's Voice pushed off the rails and drove home like a good horse to get the prize.
So many talented youngsters have come through under the guidance of John O'Shea over the last three years, who now moves aside as Darren Beadman takes over on a temporary basis.
Note: a full review of this meeting is not currently available.

3 | Ipso Facto | Mark Newnham | Ms Rachel King | 10 | 57.0 |
In The Running
BLONDE INTUITION led at a SLOW tempo only. ENVY OF ALL outside the leader, IPSO FACTO out three wide and VIRIDINE in the box seat. MADAME MOUSTACHE a touch keen near the back and MANIPULATE over-raced early as restrained to the back. SIAM a bit crowded when making his run.
The Result
VIRIDINE $4.8 (1st) worked clear and drove through to catch ENVY OF ALL $3.8F (2nd 0.1L) with IPSO FACTO $17 (3rd 0.9L) fighting on well.
The Interest
A classy win in a slowly run sprint, the last 200m in this race was rapid giving those horses from the back no chance. VIRIDINE does have something about him though based on this. Yet another smart 2yo from the Godolphin operation. The runs of POETIC CHARMER $7.5 (4th 2L) (tightened for room), SIAM (held up) and MANIPULATE from the back were all strong. Follow VIRIDINE and keep an eye on a couple of the others too.

3 | Oklahoma Girl | Chris Waller | Tommy Berry | 2 | 58.0 |
In The Running
SAHARA EAGLE went to the lead from CROSS STITCH and OCTAVIAN AUGUSTUS just behind them. OKLAHOMA GIRL in the next paid midfield on the rails. BLACK ON GOLD back in the pack and on heels mid-race. SIREN'S FURY ran out at the start and got well back. A STEADY tempo set up with 800m sprint home as the pressure went on before the turn.
The Result
BLACK ON GOLD $5.5 (1st) ran on hard down the middle of the track to catch OCTAVIAN AUGUSTUS $12 (2nd 0.8L). OKLAHOMA GIRL $4F (3rd 2.8L) got past CROSS STICH $10 (4th 3.5L) for a place.
The Interest
Four Waller 3yos over a staying trip at their home track and what happens. They dominate! Trading on the master trainer would have got you a $1,442 First 4 on the NSW TAB! BLACK ON GOLD very strong from back in the pack and surely a Queensland Derby hope now. OCTAVIAN AUGUSTUS brave nearer the pace, but he did have the weight relief. TOP OF THE RANGE $9 (5th 4.5L) and SIREN'S FURY $6 (6th 5.6L) found the line OK from the back. SIREN'S FURY in the report too [vet: dislodged a tooth]. Follow BLACK ON GOLD.

3 | Passage of Time | Joseph Pride | Glyn Schofield | 10 | 55.5 |
In The Running
NICCOBELLE worked its way around to lead the speedy PEDWAY and PASSAGE OF TIME at a STRONG tempo. QUICK FEET stuck wide just off the leaders. KAWAIKINI and NEW UNIVERSE got well back
The Result
NEW UNIVERSE $3.6F (1st) swept past down the outside with KAWAIKINI $10 (2nd 1L), going straight past the brave PASSAGE OF TIME $5 (3rd 2.8L).
The Interest
There were four very good runs in this sprint, Waller's Kiwi import NEW UNIVERSE so impressive after getting well-backed on his Aussie debut. The tempo helped both him and KAWAIKINI, but they were both very good still. The other two to note are PASSAGE OF TIME, by far the best of the on-pacers (beat PEDWAY by 4.2L) and QUICK FEET $11 (7th 5.6L), who was stuck wide the entire trip and can be followed on a GOOD track again next time despite being a touch soft in the market. Follow NEW UNIVERSE, KAWAIKINI and PASSAGE OF TIME. Forgive QUICK FEET.

3 | Kingsguard | Michael, John & Wayne Hawkes | Jay Ford | 5 | 53.0 |
In The Running
KINGSGUARD put pressure on the outside of CARELESS to make sure it was a FAIR tempo. LOFTY'S MENU and CANNYESCENT just behind them.
The Result
CANNYESCENT $3.5F (1st) got into the clear and sprinted best to win from CARELESS $5.5 (2nd 1L), who fought on very gamely up the inside and KINGSGUARD $7.5 (3rd 2.3L).
The Interest
Seemingly CARELESS (fit on-pacer, no weight) and CANNYESCENT (big sprint, inside barrier ideal) were best placed in this race and they got the prize. Tim 'Top Cat' Clark setting the winner and showing aggression to get the run. Lots of others that can improve in different conditions, KINGSGUARD fitter now and better around a tight track, BETTER NOT BLUE $4.8 (4th 2.6L) didn't find a dry Rosehill to his liking. BELIEVE $16 (6th 4L) and BERRY DELICIOUS $31 (7th 4.2L) still with upside this prep too. No Follows or Forgives.

Not much luck for WILD'N'FAMOUS (held up), but he wasn't that strong through the line anyway. UNTAMED DIAMOND a strong winner and FRILL SEEKING well placed in this grade. She usually goes forward and surprised us today going back! Follow UNTAMED DIAMOND.
