A rare dry winter track at Rosehill Gardens threw up a few tricks for punters today, horses near the rails and on-pace favoured early on, before the track evened out later in the day.
SIEGE OF QUEBEC (Race 1), BUDDY HONEST (Race 3) led and won in the first few races, while all other leaders finished in the placings until Race 6, when the higher quality horses hit the track.
WASHINGTON HEIGHTS stormed from the back to win that race over 1,200 metres, reeling off rapid sectionals and overhauling the very well-backed SIR PLUSH, who had cruised up to hit the lead. Then in the feature Listed ATC Winter Stakes (Race 7) swoopers got the prize in a blanket finish, SLIGHTLY SWEET running home best to narrowly beat Queenslander MAN OF HIS WORD.
Adam Hyeronimus had a great day in the saddle winning three races, including a boil over in the last as HUNTER JACK disposed of the well-backed favourite FLOW and strode clear to win.
