Middle-distance gallopers over 2000m, plenty of Waller runners and plenty of chances too. Not much early speed (tempo: SLOW to STEADY) and it looks a race for ETYMOLOGY on paper. He's raced on-pace in a St Leger before (2nd to Cool Chap) and is racing in great form this prep, unlucky at Flemington two starts ago before 3rd in a strong form race last time. Importantly he's got the power to sprint (has 1400m speed), but worryingly, he hardly ever wins! Waller's ABDON, NAVAL WARFARE and ARAAJA (could box seat) are all right in the mix. GREEN SWEET rates OK at odds too, he just doesn't seem to find his best on a firm Rosehill track. MEROVEE a place hope. [updated 8:48am]
