Kicking off the quaddie with a seriously closely-matched mares race, early speed from HUSSTERICAL and perhaps MADDISON AVENUE, with a few others capable of poking forward (tempo: FAIR to STEADY). NICCI'S GOLD was good first-up and usually flies second-up, but she'll get back from that barrier and need the race pattern to suit. DEFT just behind her last start and perhaps a touch more progressive than HUSSTERICAL up in distance, both in the mix each-way. Looking for other progressive types, it's hard to go past SO MAGIC and WITH PURPOSE, two mares coming off strong wins suited up to the 1400m for this city assignment. The time WITH PURPOSE ran at Goulburn two starts back was electric so we know she soaks up pressure and responds, a slightly better barrier for SO MAGIC though. SWEET DEAL and VELOCITA right around the mark too. BELLA SUCCESS back on firm ground now after a strong first-up win in the wet. [updated 8:50am]
