One of Australia's most famous handicaps. Usually they tear around the 1600m here in a high pressure race, but this year ARBEITSAM seems to get control in the lead with INVINCIBLE GEM on his outside (FAIR to STEADY tempo forecast). If it is steady early, expect the pressure to pour on 600m out as they set off for a LONG SPRINT home. The obvious form-line into this is the George Ryder, where HAPPY CLAPPER and KEMENTARI chased home the champion Winx with a big gap back to CRACK ME UP and INVINCIBLE GEM. That form-line should hold up and we know both HAPPY CLAPPER and KEMENTARI relish the Randwick mile. The 3YO form of KEMENTARI ties in Rosehill Guineas winner D'ARGENTO, who only has to carry 50kg (1kg over) and will be surging home late out wide. Like the Derby, the race really opens up outside the top few; TOM MELBOURNE, LANCIATO, COMIN' THROUGH, ENDLESS DRAMA, CRACK ME UP and INVINCIBLE GEM all with some sort of chance. Weir's runners HUMIDOR (not always genuine) and TOSEN STARDOM can win on best form, but their performances are up-and-down and it's a risky stable to follow in Sydney. [updated Saturday 9am]
